Spotless and Clean

by Jacob Dunbar

"And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." 1 Corinthians 6:11

"knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot." (1 Peter 1:18-19)

Forgiveness of sins

Removal of shame

He pierces my heart

His word so keen

I want to be Holy

Spotless and clean

First you must die

To be born again

But I’m already dead

So what does that mean

Please God make me Holy

Spotless and clean

I try and I try

I fail and I fail

Denial of self

Religious machine

How to be Holy

Spotless and clean

With all my might

I abstain from delight

Outward behavior

A fake figurine

Maybe I’m Holy

Spotless and clean

Again my strength fails

I can’t keep this up

Who will deliver

I need a vaccine

Who can be Holy

Spotless and clean

I am tired and weary

Destined to misery

Is this good news

Tradition, routine

No one is Holy

Spotless and clean

When I think all is lost

He shows me the cost

Is paid to the full

Release of the lien

He made me holy

Spotless and clean

His cross is my cross

His death was my death

I no longer live

He did intervene

Now I am Holy

Spotless and clean

His perfect obedience

Success and success

No more self-effort

He supplies gasoline

Once for all Holy

Spotless and clean

With all of His might

I taste His delight

I am so alive

A tree bright green

No effort I’m Holy

Spotless and clean

He is my strength

His life is my life

He has delivered

He is the vaccine

To make all Holy

Spotless and clean

Filled with energy

Destined for synergy

Such good news

He made me His queen

Jesus you’re Holy

Spotless and clean
